Efforts will be made to have a member of staff meet the afternoon party on their arrival. In the event that no one is at the Hangar, please wait inside. A vehicle will be sent to collect you, but this is often delayed in order to bring the morning party back to the Hangar.

DEPARTURE

Flying normally ceases at 6pm or dusk, whichever is the earlier and cadets are then required to assist in cleaning and refuelling aircraft. This takes approximately 30 minutes.

CAMERA'S

Camera's are welcome and may be used with permission from OC 613, the Duty Instructor or his Deputy, will brief cadets on rules relating to photography on the station.

What to Bring

  • Flying suit or coveralls. (Coveralls are not sexy, but you will be required to wear them when flying)
  • Soft sole shoes
  • Packet lunch, including a drink
  • Sunglasses - yes even in the winter
  • In the winter - bring a warm outer jacket.
  • Camera (Optional)

Although cadets are to arrive and depart in uniform, there are changing facilities.

Cadets must wear clothing suitable for the time of year.

Cadets are also advised to bring sunglasses, even in winter! The morning detail is advised to bring refreshments in case of delays due to weather, or unserviceable equipment. We will if humanly and safely possible fly all the cadets.

ABSENCE

Standing instructions on all Wings and CCF units are that flying will take priority over all other cadet activities. Failure to attend, regardless of how genuine the reason, denies someone else the opportunity of flying. If you are unable to make it, try to arrange for another unit to attend. Tell Wing HQ or the CCF liaison officer and if no one is going to turn up, ring and leave a message at the VGS on Extn. 6409.

The VGS is also required to submit a weekly return to Headquarters Air Cadets. This return must include details of units that failed to attend or brought less than 4 cadets.

Squadron are expected to attend, even if the weather looks poor, unless cancelled by the Duty Instructor at 613 VGS at RAF Halton

Staff are normally in the hangar from 08:00 hours

If staff would like to fly, please let the Duty Instructor know on arrival and we will try to arrange it, subject to our flying task.

SECURITY

All MOD Establishments operate at a high level of security. It is important that all cadets are correctly identified (by Cadet Record of Service Book) which must be carried when moving around the Station. All baggage must be clearly marked with the cadets name, rank, ATC/CCF Sqn and unit (VGS) attached. Visitors' vehicles must not be brought onto the Airfield. All visitors' baggage and vehicles may be subject to search by security forces.
